The National Youth Theatre needed a series of animated assets to help promote both their auditions and their shows. With an audience of 16-25 year-olds, their strategy was social-first and aimed to make use of the various content formats available on those platforms.
The first auditions campaign was titled ‘Find Your Stage’ and was entirely copy-based. I used playful, animated typography and a bright colour palette to attract the eye and stand out on social.
The second auditions campaign was titled ‘Be Part of Something Bigger’ and had to showcase the opportunities offered by the NYT. I made use of their extensive stills library and animated typography to create a video that worked seamlessly across multiple platform formats.
The NYT took their show about social media ‘F-Off’ to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2019. They needed a short trailer and press promo video that touched on the show’s themes in an irreverent and engaging way.
The vertical trailer I made uses interviews I shot with the cast to create a testimonial-style trailer that feels like you’re watching your friends on Instagram.
The vertical press promo I created shows an animated iPhone receiving endless Twitter notifications displaying reviews of the show. Playfully referencing the show’s theme whilst emphasising the show’s critical success.
